Mahua Moitra Career
In 2008, Mahua Moitra became a member of the Indian National Congress. She worked hard and advanced swiftly, rising to the position of respected leader and well-known personality in West Bengal. She was particularly admired by Rahul Gandhi. She valued advancement and recognition, but she didn’t enjoy it when Congress used to make concessions to the left. At that point, she resigned from the Congress, and in 2010, she enrolled in the All-India Trinamool Congress.
She had quit the West Bengal group, which allowed her to go up the TMC ladder swiftly. She was appointed to be the general secretary and spokesperson for TMC. In 2016, she was named the TMC’s nominee for the Karimpur seat in West Bengal. Following her victory in the 2016 Assembly Elections, she was appointed as an MNA. She was elected to the House of Representatives from Krishnanagar in the 2019 elections.
Controversy of Mahua Moitra’s life
On January 10, 2017, Mahua Moitra filed a police case stating that Babul Supiryo, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and a Union Minister, had insulted her modesty during a national discussion on television. Later, the Calcutta High Court rejected the complaint. After thereafter, Babul Pupriyo sent legal letters to Tapas Paul and Saugata Roy for allegedly defaming him after accusing him of participating in the Rose Valley firm fraud.
Moitra allegedly struck a female police officer on August 3 at the Assam airport, which resulted in her detention there. She was not allowed to board her flight to Kolkata that evening, but the next day she left with a complaint already lodged against her. In January 2020, Zed Media sued Morita for defamation after she reportedly made disparaging comments about them to press. She later secured bail, and the Delhi Court tried her.

On July 5, 2022, during the India Today Conclave East, Mahua Moitra referred the goddess Kali as a meat-eating and alcohol-accepting deity since the deity was sporting a cigarette. The TMC party asserted that it was taking a position against the scandal and claimed that Moitra fabricated the accusations solely for personal gain. She also received criticism from internet users on August 20, 2022, after a viral video showed her concealing a pricey Louis Vuitton bag. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, a TMC member, raised the issue of price rises in the Lok Sabha, which led to this. However, she replied to the video by tweeting a series of images.
